Winter Break: The Adventure Begins!
This was fun to draw. It has Mew Mew, who already has a fan base. It has the return of the Vacation Uniform, which I like to draw. It references Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer, which is fun as well. It has exactly nothing to do with school, except for the ravens.
A few days before the end of school, Darth Salinious said to me, “I’ll be in over vacation, doing work. Can I call you if I need some assistance with technology and so forth?” I remember standing silently after he asked that, largely in disbelief. The chutzpah level was profound.
Finally, I replied, “Sure…you can call.” I made no additional comment on the probability of my actually pressing the “accept” button on that phone. I honestly have no control over his decision to call or not…but total power over my unilateral decision to stay on vacation.
Vacation is tough for Adequacy, in that it takes the strip away from its basic theme and content, Teacher meetings as superhero comics. I often make a huge number of criticisms of the comics industry, or simply sort of pseudo narrate things that I’m doing. Just so we have an idea of what’s coming up, I thought I should clarify.
Right now, I have images, and even color images, for the next few days, already drawn and “in the can.” That’s kind of great, as it gives me time to work out some content that is vacation related for later in the week. Always key.
About the art…longtime readers know that they will not get to Asgard for Winter Break. Heimdall said it in an earlier strip, as the protagonist was barred from the Golden Realm at the Rainbow Bridge. “Winter Break is but three weeks…Asgard is Eternal.” Kind of stuck up, but correct. Plus…I think they are still cleaning the place up after those Dark Elves wrecked up the place about a month ago.
