Labor Day, ’14 (and Fishy!)
Either way, it’s a day on the couch at the Fortress of Togetherness. The Equine Torch and Middle Aged Mutant Ninja Turtle are there to enjoy whatever the news is, and there’s a bunny. Bunnies are good. Speaking of such news, yes…August was officially the biggest month ever for Tales of Adequacy, which might account for our hero’s good cheer, and the Torch’s astonished look. The torch better be careful…that couch might burn. Also…my favorite comic book store EVER got some good news today, news that isn’t really mine to share, but made me very happy for the superhero clubhouse.
The Quidditch World Cup is not going on, however. They might be watching, it, sure…they could even be watching Brockian Ultra Cricket…you wouldn’t believe the channels that you can get in the Fortress of Togetherness. I was considering having the protagonist in some kind of sports fan shirt, but opted against it…for all we know, that’s the reaction the cast gives to General Hospital. Go, Sonny Corinthos!
The point is…she’s not in uniform. None of her uniforms hanging in the TARDIS closet are on. She is having a nice day…like I intend to. No Darths, no dramas…no need to be a police officer, or to babysit, or make heads or tails out of bewildering and wrongheaded policies. It’s depressing a bit, because i used to look forward to work. Now, I simply wonder about what might have gone wrong without my looking over it.
I decided that the Fortress needed another denizen, since it is a Fortress of Togetherness. Lets take a closer look at the stein on the table, True Believers…
Check that out. Fishy there LIVES in beer. That’s a pretty excessive lifestyle, Fishy. Thankfully, it’s not some sort of low quality mass market beer…or we would have to seriously criticize Fishy’s life choices. Obama might have chosen Bud Light for his “Beer Summit,” (remember that, Reader?) but I’m thinking Fishy wouldn’t live in anything less than a Stone IPA.
To all of your readers on Labor Day…thanks for reading with us so much last month, and have a nice, relaxing day with people you care about.
