Team Up Week: C’mon Get Happy…!

So…this is an unusual post. I was really trying to think of something silly, that captured the Silver Age mentality that I love so much. The kind of bizarre team up, with a crazy mission that would have been firmly at home in the late sixties and early seventies. It just wasn’t coming through though…I kept coming back to the Batman ’66 series, but that didn’t feel right.

Then…a thing happened. I had ordered a set of Baby Groot earrings as a gift. Those earrings had been lost by the post office…which oddly enough the post office had lost another thing, a while back, from the same Etsy seller. I really like that Etsy store, which has the seller right here in Los Angeles, so I just couldn’t get my brain around why the post office seemed to be dead set against her being able to sell me things.

I’m sorry…I need to correct myself. I was able to make the transactions, but the post office kept failing to deliver. Maybe they knew what was in the package, and took it for themselves. I’d prefer to think that…this way, the earrings would get a nice home. According to the post office, they did deliver the package, about a week ago, which is straight up @#$#%.

I contacted the Etsy seller. If you want direct proof that there are good people in the universe, I’ll give it to you. She said that it was such a shame, and that she would make a new pair, which would be hand delivered here to the Fortress of Togetherness. Which happened, without a hitch. It’s rare that you find someone that goes above and beyond in that way, and makes such a great set of products.

I’ll release the suspense. The Etsy store is MyGeekHusband, and makes pretty excellent Marvel and Star Wars inspired jewelry. Like…very excellent. I have a bunch of their Guardians of the Galaxy inspired stuff myself, and have given them as gifts. In addition to the expanding selection and good quality…it’s just nice to find someone who stands by their business like that in today’s world. Top notch and excellent.

Plus…the hand delivery was in time for me to actually give the Baby Groot earrings as a gift. Which, in turn, inspired the art for today…with Baby Groot saving the day. See? It all comes together.

You’ll find a permalink to the right with the store’s address. Overdue on a gift for someone like me? Then browse the inventory…there’s some pretty cool stuff there, from some good people.

About the Partridge Family…The Partridge Family, if you don’t already know, was a television sitcom series starring Shirley Jones and featuring David Cassidy. Jones plays a widowed mother, and Cassidy plays the oldest of her five children who embark on a music career. In the pilot episode, the musical family from San Pueblo, California convinces their mother, Shirley Partridge, to help them out by singing as they record a pop song in their garage. Through the efforts of precocious ten-year-old Danny, they find a manager, Reuben Kincaid, who helps make the song a Top 40 hit. After more persuading, Shirley agrees that the family can go on tour. They acquire an old school bus, paint it with Mondrian-inspired patterns, and depart to Las Vegas for their first live gig at Caesars Palace. Subsequent episodes usually feature the band performing in various venues or in their garage. The shows often contrast suburban life with the adventures of a show business family on the road.

The Partridge Family, Season one, in the Bus. Awesome.

It was a huge dose of early seventies awesomeness that ran from ’70 to ’74, and then was in reruns for ages. If there were a band that worked well for this kind of thing…the Partridge Family would be it. Heck…they even had their own comic book for a while. Susan Dey was in the cast, as well as Danny Bonaduce. Johnny Cash was a guest star.

If anyone was going to play music for a supervillain’s Batusi Tournament, it would be them.

And of course, Baby Groot would win that tourney. Baby Groot can dance all night, longer than any supervillain can stay awake. And after dancing all night, can come to your house, to be given as a gift and make someone happy.

That is the closest I’m getting to a Holiday Wish, True Believers. Now click the link and go shopping with MyGeekHusband on Etsy.
